Electrical Requirements for Bakery Dishwashers
Most "installation didn't go smoothly" stories start with electrical mismatches. Here's what you need to know before you order.
JD-3 Standard Electrical Specs
- Voltage: 380V three-phase (also written as 380V/3N/50Hz)
- Current: 21.5 A
- Total power: 13 kW
- Cable requirement: 5-core (3 phases + neutral + earth), 4 mm² recommended
- Breaker: Dedicated 32 A three-phase circuit breaker
- Grounding: Required and must be verified
Why 380V Three-Phase?
Three-phase power delivers significantly more power efficiently than single-phase. The JD-3's 9 kW booster heater needs three-phase to ramp up quickly enough for the 2-minute cycle. A single-phase 220V circuit could not deliver this power without an unreasonably long cycle time.

If You Only Have 220V Single-Phase
Two options:
- Install 380V three-phase circuit. A licensed electrician can run a new circuit from your building's main distribution panel. Cost varies by country and circuit length: $300–$1,500 typically.
- Order JD-3 in 220V configuration. We offer a 220V option that uses a smaller booster heater (6 kW instead of 9 kW). Cycle time extends to ~150 seconds (vs 120 seconds standard). Specify "220V single-phase" in your quote request.
Dedicated Circuit Required
Do NOT share the JD-3's circuit with other equipment. Sharing causes:
- Voltage drops when other equipment cycles on (refrigerators, ovens)
- Booster heater inability to reach 82°C
- Premature breaker tripping
- Potential damage to control electronics
Grounding Is Critical
Improper grounding is the most common cause of commercial dishwasher electrical failures. Verify with your electrician:
- Earth wire connected to the machine's dedicated grounding lug
- Ground continuity tested and recorded
- RCD (residual current device) on the circuit
Energy Cost Estimation
13 kW for 2 minutes per cycle = 0.43 kWh per cycle. At commercial rates of $0.12–$0.25 per kWh (depending on country):
- 30 cycles/day × 300 days/year = 9,000 cycles/year × 0.43 kWh = ~3,870 kWh/year
- Annual electricity cost: $465–$970

Installation Cost
